A state level program to join the nationwide virtual release of the 21st Instalment of Pradhan Mantri-Kisan Scheme by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi was held at the Integrated Agricultural Training Centre, Upper Shillong on the 19th November, 2025. The programme was organised jointly by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Khasi Hills and the Meghalaya Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute. The programme was attended by farmers from the various C&RD Blocks of East Khasi Hills district along with officials from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of Meghalaya. The programme was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Shri Timothy D. Shira as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Smti. B. M. Umlong, Director of Agriculture, Meghalaya, Smt. A. Suting Deputy Director of Agriculture (State Soil Survey Officer), Smt. T. M. Marak, Director MAMETI, Upper Shillong. The chief guest in his speech encouraged the farmers to take the opportunity in availing the PM Kisan Scheme given by the Central Government to improve the farming conditions in the State. Further, he explained in details the various aspects and requirements of the scheme. As part of the programme, the live streaming of the main programme was held at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and also the launch of South India Natural Farming Summit. Through the nationwide launching programme, a large number of farmers across the country participated virtually in which the Hon’ble Prime Minister launched the scheme to move ahead towards a self reliant and sufficient India.
