Dr. M.A. Lyngdoh, Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Gov. of Meghalaya, launches nationwide campaign Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) at KVK Upper Shillong

Marking the significant national initiative of Awareness on Pre Kharif Season for the farmers of the country, the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) commence nationwide today the 29th May which will continue till June 12th 2025. The nationwide programme is initiated under the distinguish leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Agriculture Minister of India Shri. Shivraj Singh Chouhan which will be a comprehensive pre-kharif campaign in collaboration with Indian Council Agricultural Research (ICAR) In Meghalaya, the campaign was formally inaugurated at the Training Hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Khasi Hills Upper Shillong by the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Dr. M.A. Lyngdoh as the Chief Guest. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. M.A. Lyngdoh encourage the farmers to participate wholeheartedly with the campaign to have a better understanding of the new technologies. Further, she inform that the State Government has discourage the farmers in using chemical fertilizer in the state, and encourage the farmers to work jointly together for improving the livelihood from the agriculture sector. The minister opined that land structure and ownership of the state of Meghalaya is peculiar and it is important for the Central Government to tailor the central schemes as per the local conditions of the state. The inaugural programme concluded by the flagging off of 3 Teams comprising Scientist, Officers of various lien departments and KVK specialist who will visit the various villages during the duration of the Programme. Earlier during the programme the welcome address was given by Smti. B.M. Umlong Director of Horticulture Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Govt. Of Meghalaya. The programme was attended by officials from the State and Central Agencies among a host of farmers.
